Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken:

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (sliced into thin strips)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (for coating)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt & pepper to taste

For the Garlic Sauce:

  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey (or brown sugar)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (mixed with 2 tablespoons water)

For Garnishing:

  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
  • 2 green onions (chopped)
  • Sesame seeds for topping

Instructions

1. Prepare the Chicken:

  1. Slice the chicken breasts into thin strips for faster and even cooking.
  2. In a bowl, toss the chicken with soy sauce, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Let it rest for about 10 minutes to enhance the flavor and texture.

2. Cook the Chicken:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the marinated chicken strips and cook for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove from the pan and set aside.

3. Make the Garlic Sauce:

  1. In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed and sauté the minced garlic for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  2. Pour in soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, and chicken broth.
  3. Stir well and let the sauce simmer for 2 minutes to blend the flavors.
  4. Gradually add the cornstarch slurry (cornstarch mixed with water) while stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.

4. Combine and Serve:

  1. Return the cooked chicken to the pan, tossing it in the sauce until fully coated.
  2. Let everything cook together for another 2 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  3. Garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles and enjoy!
