Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken:

  • Slice two boneless, skinless chicken breasts into thin strips.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the Pasta:

  • 12 oz linguine pasta
  • Water for boiling
  • 1 teaspoon salt

For the Creamy Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest (for freshness)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Pasta

  1. Fill a large pot with water, add salt, and bring it to a boil.
  2. Add linguine and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  3. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.

Step 2: Cook the Chicken

  1. Warm some olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Season the chicken strips with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  3. Cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and fully cooked.
  4. Transfer the chicken from the pan and set it aside.

Step 3: Make the Creamy Sauce

  1. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Pour in heavy cream and chicken broth, stirring to combine.
  4. Add parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes, and lemon zest.
  5. Simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.

Step 4: Combine Everything

  1. Return the cooked linguine and chicken to the skillet, tossing to coat in the creamy sauce.
  2. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until you reach the desired consistency.
  3. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and extra parmesan before serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh ingredients – Fresh garlic, parmesan, and parsley enhance the flavor.
  • Don’t overcook the pasta – Keep it al dente for the perfect texture.
  • Adjust the creaminess – Add more pasta water or cream if needed.
  • Add veggies – Toss in spinach, mushrooms, or sun-dried tomatoes for extra depth.
  • Make it lighter – Use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
  • Spicy version – Increase red pepper flakes for extra heat.
  • Gluten-free option – Swap linguine for your favorite gluten-free pasta.
